Kamloops Spring Sprint Beginner Training

Introductory swim sessions This 5 week program is designed for beginners that are comfortable in the water and would like to take the first steps towards learning front crawl. This introductory class teaches you the three key skills of balance, length, and roll that enable you to swim effortlessly in any body of water. Regardless of your current swimming ability, this course will increase your efficiency and reduce your stroke count. This style of swimming is ideal for triathletes who want to exit the swim refreshed and ready for the bike. Instruction is based on the Total Immersion swimming method and led by Teresa Seibel certified Total Immersion swim coach.

Thursdays 9:00am at Canada Games Pool January 26, Feb 2, 9, 16, 23 Intermediate sessions Development of the Total Immersion freestyle drill series - a sequence of exercises that will help you not only swim faster and longer, but understand the mechanics of the stroke better. A continuation of the Introductory swim sessions. These lessons take your basic skills learned in the introductory classes and refines your technique in 3 main areas - breathing, 2-beat kick and perpetual motion. 5 weeks

Advanced sessions

This is an advanced program for Total Immersion swimmers that helps you to swim longer distances with more ease and relaxation. Total Immersion drills and whole stroke swimming is practiced, while extra coaching on proper breathing, kicking, triathlon specific skills, and conditioning is provided.
Prerequisite: Must be able to swim continuous lengths using the Total Immersion style of swimming and be familiar with all the Total Immersion drills. Email Teresa to see if you qualify. Generally, swimmers that have completed 2 regular sessions qualify.
Cost is $100.00 Kamloops Triathlon club members $90.00. Entry to pool is included.

Watch for session beginning in Spring 2012
This 5 week program is designed for the rider that would like an introduction to basic techniques used in a triathlon race. The sessions are geared for people that would like to train in preparation for the Kamloops Spring Sprint on May 7. (but all beginners are welcome.)
Mountain bikes are welcome.
5 Wednesdays in April 5:30pm
First ride we will meet at Dallas elementary and the last 4 rides we will meet at the Westsyde Pool and Community Centre
½ hour – 45 minute talk plus ½ - 45 minute ride
March 30 – Gears, cadence and bike etiquette
April 6 – Cornering, cadence, body position
April 13 – Brick workout (bike plus run)
April 20 – Triathlons 4th sport – Transition
April 27 – Visualizing the race/easy ride

Long run Mondays:
Starting Monday January 9th 5:30 pm from our location on Lorne street. Cost is free, duration starts at 1:15 and builds by 15 min per week.
Spin classes:
Mondays 6:00 am "Sufferfest": Starting January 9th ending March 12th
Very high intensity, a new "sufferfest" video every week. In and out in an hour. If you haven't heard of "sufferfest" videos please google it. Pain and suffering guaranteed!
Duration: 1.0 hours Cost: 100$ plus HST (10 sessions)
Tuesdays 5:30pm threshold intensity: Starting January 10th ending March 13th
1.5 hour workout focusing on intensity and threshold training on the bike. the "interval" component will be about 30 to 60 minutes. Ideal for people wanting to boost threshold pace, great for "pure" cyclists or for people wanting to work on cycling as a limiter during the off season. Some drills on the powercranks trainer.
Duration: 1.5 hours Cost: 100$ plus HST (10 sessions)
Thursdays 6:00 am, 12 noon and 5:30 pm "sufferfest": Starting January 12th ending March 15th *Same as tuesdays workout
Fridays 5:30 pm skills and drills: Starting January 13th ending March 16th *same as tuesdays workout
45 minutes on the bike (drills, a bit of light intensity) followed by 45 minutes of running specific drills and stabilizer/strength training, the intensity load is light focusing on balance, efficiency, stability strength and injury prevention.
Saturdays 8:00 am "kitchen sink" workout! Starting January 14th ending march 17th

Just like it sounds the "kitchen sink" workout will last about three hours and cover a bit of everything. Starting with a 1:30 to 2:00 ride focusing on longer tempo or Ironman pace intervals, followed by 20-40 minutes of core and stability work (with some band work for swimming) and closing out with a 20-30 minute cool down run with some light drills and pick ups.
Bring hydration and some calories!
